Attack

1. An offensive action characterized by movement supported by fire against an established position intended to seize a particular terrain. (AFPM 3-8-1) 2. An offensive action characterized by movement supported by fire. (PAM 3-04) 3. A form of offensive operation characterized by coordinated movement supported by the fire. It may be designated as the main or supporting attack. The principal attack options include hasty and deliberate attack, spoiling attack, counter attack, raid, feint and demonstration. (PAM 8-03)
