Chain of Command

1. The succession of commanding officers from a superior to a subordinate through which command is exercised. Also called command channel. (AFPM 3-8-1, PAM 3-071, PAM 3-0601-02) 2. The flow of authority from the Commander-in-Chief down to the Chief of Staff, AFP, and to the lowest rank in the hierarchy for effective control, supervision, and authority of command as mandated by the Constitution.
