Combat Power

1. Is the total destructive force we can bring to bear on an enemy at a given time. This include numerical strength, concept of maneuver, leadership, tempo, surprise, morale and sometimes geography, climate and weather. 2. A complex combination of tangible and intangible factors which are transitory and reversible on the battlefield. Combat power is comprised of the effects of the maneuver, the effects of firepower, the effects of protection, and the effectiveness of leadership. The skillful combination of these elements in a sound operational plan will turn potential into actual power. (FM 101-5-1, Oct 85) 3.
