Forward Air Controller

1. An Air Force Officer (pilot) who from a forward position on the ground or airborne, directs and controls aircraft engaged in interdiction or close air support of ground troops. ( AFPM 3-8-1) 2. A member of the tactical air control party who from a ground or airborne position controls aircraft engaged in close air support of ground forces. (PAM 3-041)
