1. An act to isolate or seal off an area by any means; to deny use of a route or approach. To prevent, hinder, or delay the use of an area of route by enemy forces. 2. To prevent or hinder by any means enemy use of an area or route. A force assinged the task of "interdic" should normally be assigned the degree of success to be achieved and/or the duration of the "interdiction" in relationship to its purpose. ( PAM 3-041)
