Peace Enforcement

Armed intervention, involving the use of force or the threat of force, pursuant to the authorization by the United Nations Security Council for the coercive use of military power to compel compliance with international resolutions, mandates or sanctions to maintain or restore international peace and security, or address breaches to the peace or acts of aggression. Post conflict actions, predominantly diplomatic, that strengthens and rebuild civil infrastructure and institutions in order to avoid relapse into conflict. (AFPM 3-8-1)
