1. To gain possession of a position or terrain feature, with or without force, and to deploy in a manner which prevents its destruction or loss to enemy action. (AFPM 3-8-1, PAM 3-041, PAM 3-071(S-2008)) 2. Breaching fundamentals that involves occupation of the forces to secure the breaching site and preventing the enemy in to interfere with the obstacle reduction. (PAM 3-0601-02) 3. A tactical task to gain possession of a position or terrain feature, with or without force, and to deploy in a manner which prevents its destruction or loss to enemy action. The attacking force mat or may not have physically occupy the area. (PAM 8-03)
