GIS advances the technology in spatial analysis by increasing the ability to capture and handle geospatial data. Using the spatial analyst extension software of the ArcGIS, users can convert features (point, line or polygon) to rasters, create continuous surfaces from point features, derive contour, slope, viewshed, aspect, and hillshades of surfaces, perform zone analysis, grid classification and display, and create density maps from point features.
