Standing Operating Procedures

1. a. A set of rules, regulations, guidelines or procedures which speil out the actions to take in certain specified circumstances or situations the purpose of which is to remove the necessity of requesting for or issuing orders. SOPs have the force of standing orders and the purpose for its issuance is to increase efficiency by saving on time consumed in the performance of certain recurring tasks. b. A set ot instructions covering those features of operations which lend themselves to a definite or standardized procedure without loss of effectiveness. (AFPM 3-8-1) 2. A set of instructions covering those features of operations which lends them to a definite or a standardized procedure without loss of effectiveness. The procedure is applicable unless ordered otherwise.(PAM 3-071(S-2008))
