Command and Control

1. The exercise of command that is the process through which the activities of military forces are directed, coordinated, and controlled to accomplish the mission. This process encompasses the personnel, equipment, communications, facilities, and procedures necessary to gather and analyze information, to plan for what is to be done, and to supervise the execution of operations. (AFPM 3-8-1, PAM 3-04, PAM 3-041, PAM 3-0601-02, PAM 7-03) 2. The exercise of authority and direction by a properly designated commander over assigned forces in the accomplishment of the mission. (PAM 3-05)
