This publication is intended to provide the units and individuals in the Army clear understanding on how Army doctrines are going to be developed.      It outlines the various processes involved in the formulation, approval and production of doctrine. It provides general guidelines to cover the conventions associated with layout, style and grammar, together with the rules associated with the use of abbreviations, punctuation and illustrations. It also covers some aspects of desktop publishing as it applies to the production of doctrine.      These guidelines are not intended to be inflexible nor limiting and should, therefore, be applied with commonsense.
